3.67% Growth, Non-Oil and Gas Industry Still Unable to Drive Domestic Economy

The non-oil and gas industrial sector has yet to become a driver of domestic economic growth.

This is reflected in the growth rate of the non-oil and gas industry, which has consistently remained below the national GDP level for the past five years.

Based on data from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS), the gross domestic product (GDP) at current prices (ADHB) of the non-oil and gas processing industry reached Rp2.95 quadrillion throughout 2021. This value represents 17.36% of the total national GDP, which was Rp16.97 quadrillion.

Based on the GDP at constant 2010 prices (ADHK), the non-oil and gas processing industry grew by 3.67% to Rp2.08 quadrillion in 2021. The growth of this industrial sector remained below the national economic growth of 3.69%.

Here is a breakdown of the Non-Oil and Gas Processing Industry Subsectors with the highest growth throughout 2021:

1. Transportation equipment industry grew by 17.82%
2. Base metals grew by 11.50%
3. Machinery and equipment grew by 11.43%
4. Chemicals; pharmaceuticals & traditional medicine grew by 9.61%
5. Furniture grew by 8.16%

Meanwhile, the Processing Industry Subsectors that contributed the most to the National GDP in 2021 were:

1. Food & beverages contributed 6.61%
2. Chemicals; pharmaceuticals & traditional medicine contributed 2.00%
3. Metal goods contributed 1.52%
4. Transportation equipment contributed 1.48%
5. Textiles & garments contributed 1.06%
