Entering the 4.0 Industrial era, the government needs to boost the economy based on ideas and creativity, namely the creative and digital industries. Amidst the rapid technological advancements in the digital era, Indonesia must also prepare for the utilization of artificial intelligence (AI) technology to build its future economy and avoid falling behind other countries.
Based on data from the Creative Economy Agency (Bekraf), national creative industry exports have increased over the past six years, while Indonesia's overall export value has decreased. In 2016, Indonesia's creative economy exports reached US$19.9 billion, representing 13.77% of total national exports of US$145.17 billion. This figure is an increase compared to 2010, when creative industry exports reached only US$13.51 billion, or 8.56% of total exports of US$157.79 billion.

By the end of 2016, the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of the creative economy only reached 7.44% of the total national GDP. Therefore, the potential of the creative economy is still very large and can be further developed by utilizing technology and information. The creative industry employs 16.91 million people. Of this number, 54.96% are women.
