Indonesia's economy is targeted to grow by 5.3% in 2019.

In the 2019 State Budget (APBN), the Indonesian government targeted economic growth of 5.3%, higher than the 2018 outlook of 5.2%. This target assumes that household consumption will grow by 5.1% next year and government consumption by 5.4%. Gross fixed capital formation is projected to grow by 7%, exports by 6.3%, and imports by 7.1%.

With this target, the government set an exchange rate of Rp 15,000 per US dollar and an average Indonesian Crude Price (ICP) of US$70/barrel. Meanwhile, oil lifting is projected to reach 775,000 barrels/day and gas 1.25 million barrels/day. Next year's state revenue is set at Rp 2,165.1 trillion, while state expenditure will reach Rp 2,461.1 trillion. This means that the deficit next year is estimated at Rp 296 trillion, or 1.84% of GDP.

The high level of global uncertainty related to the potential increase in the US Federal Reserve's benchmark interest rate and the impact of the US-China trade war will be challenges for the national economy in this political year. Swift breakthroughs are needed to reduce the trade and current account deficits to prevent further depreciation of the rupiah and to maintain public purchasing power.
