Based on the official website of the 2022 Hangzhou Asian Games (https://databoks.katadata.co.id/tags/asian-games) accessed on Wednesday, October 4, 2023, at 6:30 AM WIB, Indonesia has won 22 medals. The details are: 6 gold medals, 3 silver medals, and 12 bronze medals.
This achievement has moved the Indonesian team to 12th place in the 2022 Asian Games. This is thanks to two additional gold medals and two bronze medals won in weightlifting and sport climbing.
Indonesia's fifth gold medal was won by weightlifter Rahmat Erwin. He won the men's 73 kg weightlifting class with a total lift of 359 kg. Rahmat also broke the world record in the clean and jerk with a lift of 201 kg.
Rahmat's success was followed by sport climber Desak Made Rita Kusuma Dewi, who set a new Asian record in the women's speed climbing event. The athlete from Bali defeated the host country with a time of 6.364 seconds.
"Before the competition, I always convinced myself that I had trained hard to be the best, and this achievement is what Desak dreamed of besides the 2024 Paris Olympics. So I always pray that I can always be the champion," said Desak after the match, as reported by the official Kemenpora website on Tuesday, October 3, 2023.
In addition, two more bronze medals from sport climbing were contributed by Veddriq Leonardo in the men's speed climbing event and Sallsabillah in the women's speed climbing event.
