The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) released data on Monday (April 1st) showing that inflation in March 2019 reached 0.11% compared to the previous month. The largest contributor to last month's inflation was the processed food, beverages, tobacco, and cigarettes expenditure group, with a weight of 0.04%, followed by housing, water, electricity, gas, and fuel at 0.03%.
Cumulatively (calendar year) from January to March 2019, inflation reached 0.35% compared to the same period the previous year, and March year-on-year (YoY) inflation was 2.48%. For the core component in March 2019, inflation was 0.16% from the previous month, calendar year (January-March) inflation was 0.72%, and year-on-year (YoY) inflation was 3.03%.
Of the 82 cities surveyed, 51 experienced inflation and 31 recorded deflation. The highest inflation was recorded in Ambon at 0.86%, and the largest deflation was in Tual at 3.03%.
