Wholesale Price Index Increased by 0.75% in January 2022

The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) reported that the national General Wholesale Price Index (IHPB) reached 108.47 in January 2022. This figure is a 0.75% increase from 107.66 in December 2021.

The highest increase occurred in the agricultural sector at 0.79%. The IHPB for the agricultural sector in January 2022 was 102.97, compared to 102.16 in December 2021.

Meanwhile, the IHPB for the industrial sector in January 2022 was 109.78, a 0.75% increase from 108.97 the previous month. The IHPB for the mining and quarrying sector increased by 0.16%, from 110.90 to 111.07.

The industrial sector was the dominant contributor to the change in the IHPB, accounting for 0.60% in January 2022. The agricultural sector contributed 0.14%, and the mining and quarrying sector contributed 0.01%.

Several commodities experienced price increases in January 2022, including broiler chickens, chicken eggs, broiler chicken meat, LPG, cooking oil, and filter-tipped kretek cigarettes.

The year-on-year (yoy) change in the IHPB for January 2022 increased by 3.1%. In January 2021, the IHPB was recorded at 105.2.
