Demak Regency's 2023 Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP) at current prices reached Rp33.02 trillion. This represents a 5.01% growth compared to the previous year's Rp30.25 trillion.
Compared to the COVID-19 pandemic year of 2020, the region's economic growth is significantly higher. At the end of 2020, post-COVID, growth was recorded at a negative 0.23%.
According to BPS (Statistics Indonesia) publications, with a total population of 1.24 million, the GRDP per capita in the region is recorded at Rp26,620,000 per capita per year. Nationally, this ranks 427th.
Of the 17 sectors driving the region's economy, the manufacturing industry is the leading sector.
The manufacturing sector ranks first. In 2023, this sector contributed the largest GRDP, reaching Rp10.48 trillion, with a growth of 5.03%.
Following this is the agriculture, forestry, and fisheries sector, which experienced negative growth of -1.48%, resulting in a GRDP of Rp6.28 trillion. The wholesale and retail trade, repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles sector, now in third place, grew by 5.3% to Rp5.14 trillion.
The final sector in the top five is education services, with a GRDP of Rp1.37 trillion. This sector recorded growth of 6.23% compared to the previous year's figure of Rp1.28 trillion.

In terms of distribution, the main sector contributing the most to GRDP growth in Demak Regency is the manufacturing sector, with a contribution of 30.06%. Other sectors in the top five include agriculture, forestry and fisheries; wholesale and retail trade, repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles; construction; and education services.
The sectors with the smallest distribution are: Health and Social Services; Mining and Quarrying; Business Services; Electricity and Gas Supply; and Water Supply, Waste Management, Waste and Recycling.
