The 2024 nominal Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP) of Tana Tidung Regency was recorded at Rp9.3 million. This represents a 3.57% growth compared to the previous year's Rp9.26 million.
However, compared to the post-COVID-19 pandemic period, historical data shows that growth in this region has been weaker, recording lower growth rates.
According to BPS (Statistics Indonesia) publications, with a total population of 29,291, the GRDP per capita in this region is recorded at Rp330.15 million/capita/year, ranking 12th nationally.
Of the 17 sectors driving the economy in this regency, mining and quarrying is the leading sector.
Mining and quarrying contributed the largest share to the GRDP in 2024, reaching Rp3.73 million, although this represents a negative growth of -3.11%.
The second largest contributor to the GRDP in Tana Tidung Regency is the agriculture, forestry, and fisheries sector, which grew by 4.47% to Rp2.23 million. The construction sector grew by 12.11% to Rp1.6 million.
Other sectors contributing to the top five include wholesale and retail trade, repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles, with a GRDP of Rp442.25 million.

In terms of distribution, the mining and quarrying sector contributed the largest share to GRDP growth in Tana Tidung Regency, accounting for 33.07%. Other sectors in the top five include agriculture, forestry, and fisheries; construction; public administration, defense, and compulsory social security; and wholesale and retail trade, repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles.
Sectors with the smallest distribution include health and social services; information and communication; electricity and gas supply; business services; and water supply, waste management, waste disposal, and recycling.
