August 2019, Fisheries Sector Tax Revenue Reached Rp 1.3 Trillion

Data from the Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries (KKP) shows that fisheries sector tax revenue in 2018 was the highest in the last five years. Fisheries sector revenue in 2018 reached Rp 1.6 trillion, a 22.6% increase compared to 2017, which was Rp 1.3 trillion.

By August 2019, fisheries sector tax revenue had reached Rp 1.3 trillion. This figure is only Rp 311 billion less than the total fisheries sector tax revenue for the whole of 2018.

The lowest tax revenue occurred in 2014, amounting to Rp 851 billion. The following year, the KKP successfully increased its tax revenue by 34.4%, reaching Rp 1.1 trillion. However, in 2016, fisheries sector tax revenue fell again by 7.3% to Rp 1 trillion. In 2017, the performance of fisheries sector tax revenue rebounded with growth of 25.9%, reaching Rp 1.3 trillion.

For information, the KKP also explains that the fisheries tax ratio in 2018 was 0.42%. This tax ratio is still categorized as low, but it indicates that the potential for increasing tax revenue from the fisheries sector is still quite large.
