Katadata Investor Confidence Index (KICI): Institutional Investors Remain Optimistic about the Economy and Capital Market

Katadata launched the Katadata Investor Confidence Index (KICI) on January 30, 2019. Based on a December 2018 survey, the KICI stood at 139.1 on a scale of 0-200. This indicates that most institutional investors assess the current and next three months' conditions of the Indonesian economy and capital market as positive. Pension funds showed the highest optimism level compared to investment managers and insurance companies.

The two components of the KICI, namely the Current Situation Index (ISS) and the Expectations Index (IE), are both in the optimistic range. The ISS stands at 137.1, signifying that most institutional investors view the current economic and capital market conditions as positive. Similarly, the IE is at 140.5, indicating that most institutional investors see a positive outlook for the economy and capital market in the next three months.

A KICI score approaching 0 indicates that institutional investors are pessimistic about the current and next three months' economic and capital market conditions; conversely, a score approaching 200 indicates optimism.
