These five wealthiest Indonesians are Low Tuck Kwong, Prajogo Pangestu, Budi Hartono, Michael Hartono, and Anthoni Salim. Their sources of wealth are diverse, ranging from cash, private assets, to public assets. So, who holds the most assets and wealth?
Low Tuck Kwong is the wealthiest Indonesian, with a net worth of US$27.8 billion, or Rp433.37 trillion. This places him 52nd globally according to Bloomberg.
The majority of the wealth of the owner of coal mining company PT Bayan Resources Tbk. (BYAN) comes from public assets, totaling US$25.63 billion, or Rp399.58 trillion. These public assets stem from equity in BYAN, Metis Energy Ltd. (Singapore), and PT Samindo Resources Tbk. (MYOH).
Low also possesses US$1.8 billion, or Rp28.06 trillion, in cash.
Prajogo Pangestu ranks second among Indonesia's wealthiest individuals, with assets totaling US$22.1 billion, or Rp344.51 trillion. Similar to Low, the majority of Prajogo's wealth comes from public assets, amounting to US$21.71 billion, or Rp338.43 trillion. The head of PT Barito Pacific Tbk. also holds US$255 million, or Rp3.50 trillion, in cash.

His public assets total US$22.77 billion, or Rp355.03 trillion. Budi has debts amounting to US$1.98 billion, or Rp30.86 trillion.
Budi Hartono's brother, Michael Hartono, is the fourth wealthiest Indonesian. His net worth after deducting debts is US$20.4 billion (Rp318.01 trillion). His assets are not significantly different from Budi's.
Anthony Salim follows in fifth place, with a net worth of US$10.4 billion, or Rp162.12 trillion. The majority of the Indofood owner's wealth originates from public assets, as shown in the chart above.
