Latest South Sumatra Food Prices: Rice Prices Up, Chili Prices Down

The prices of several food commodities in South Sumatra today are observed to have decreased compared to yesterday.

Citing data from the National Food Agency (Bapanas) food price panel on Saturday (7/9/2024) at 08.01 WIB, out of 21 commodities, 8 commodities increased and 13 commodities decreased in price.

Commodities that increased in price include skipjack tuna, packaged wheat flour (non-bulk), Indian mackerel, shallots, and broiler chicken.

Meanwhile, the prices of several commodities such as pure beef, farmer-level corn, bulk wheat flour, garlic bulbs, and dry soybean (import) decreased compared to yesterday's prices.

Indian mackerel prices surged the highest by Rp3,000 (9.38%) to Rp35,000 per kg. Meanwhile, the price of curly red chilies decreased the most sharply by Rp9,540 (29.62%) to Rp22,670 per kg.

The following is a complete list of the prices of 21 food commodities in South Sumatra according to Bapanas on September 7, 2024, at 08.01 WIB.

2. Indian Mackerel: Rp35,000 per kg (up 9.38%)
3. Garlic Bulbs: Rp35,000 per kg (down 5.61%)
4. Red Chili Peppers: Rp33,330 per kg (down 17.95%)
5. Broiler Chicken: Rp32,000 per kg (up 2.01%)
6. Milkfish: Rp28,000 per kg (up 1.71%)
7. Skipjack Tuna: Rp28,000 per kg (up 2.34%)
8. Chicken Eggs: Rp25,000 per kg (down 3.25%)
9. Shallots: Rp24,000 per kg (up 2.96%)
10. Curly Red Chilies: Rp22,670 per kg (down 29.62%)
11. Simple Packaged Cooking Oil: Rp17,000 per liter (down 0.87%)
12. Granulated Sugar: Rp17,000 per kg (down 2.47%)
