Appointed as KPK Chairman, What is Nawawi Pomolango's Wealth?

President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) inaugurated Nawawi Pomolango as the acting Chairman of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) at the State Palace, Jakarta, on Monday (27/11/2023).

Nawawi acknowledged that this new task is quite heavy, even though he previously served as Deputy Chairman. According to *Kompas.com*, he plans to discuss various matters in the first meeting after his inauguration. One of them is public trust in the KPK.

Nawawi stated that the KPK's work system is based on a collective collegiality. This means he must discuss KPK tasks with other leaders.

"Whatever title is attached to me, I am a member of the leadership of this institution. I must speak with other fellow leaders," said Nawawi.

Nawawi replaces Firli Bahuri, who is now a suspect in an alleged extortion case against Minister of Agriculture Syahrul Yasin Limpo. According to *Katadata*, President Jokowi previously signed Presidential Decree (Keppres) Number 116 of 2023 regarding the temporary dismissal of Firli Bahuri from the position of KPK Chairman and the appointment of Nawawi as acting KPK Chairman.

Nawawi began working at the KPK with Firli Bahuri, Alexander Marwata, Lili Pintauli Siregar, and Nurul Ghufron in 2019. According to the official KPK website, before working at the anti-corruption agency, Nawawi began his career as a judge at the Soasio Tidore District Court, Central Halmahera, in 1992.

This law graduate from Sam Ratulangi University reported assets totaling Rp3.71 billion in 2022. This wealth data was submitted to the KPK's State Officials Wealth Report (LHKPN) on January 30, 2023.

Of that amount, the largest component comes from land and buildings worth Rp2.3 billion.

Nawawi is recorded as owning land and houses in several areas. Specifically, 3 properties in Bolaang Mongondow, North Sulawesi, and 3 properties in Balikpapan, East Kalimantan. He also owns 1 plot of land in Bolaang Mongondow.

The second largest component is cash and cash equivalents totaling Rp702 million. Other significant assets include transportation and machinery worth Rp321 million, consisting of a 2020 Toyota Innova car and a 2019 Honda Beat motorcycle.

Other movable assets are reported at Rp155 million, and other assets amount to Rp235 million. Nawawi has no recorded debts.
