Top 10 Countries with the Largest Investments in Indonesia, 2017

Singapore remains Indonesia's largest investor through the third quarter, despite a 14 percent decrease. Data from the Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM) shows that Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) from the Lion City during January-September 2017 fell to US$6.12 billion (Rp 82.6 trillion) from US$7.13 billion in the same period the previous year. This figure accounts for 25 percent of total foreign investment in Indonesia and is the largest compared to other countries.

Japan ranks second as the largest investor in Indonesia, with investments totaling US$4 billion during January-September of this year. This figure also decreased by 11 percent from the same period the previous year, which was US$4.5 billion. China ranks third with US$2.73 billion in investment, and the United States ranks fourth with US$1.54 billion, showing increases of 72 percent and 257 percent respectively compared to the previous year.

Overall, foreign investment in Indonesia in the first nine months of this year increased by 69.84 percent to US$23.9 billion, compared to US$14.1 billion the previous year. With weakening domestic consumption, the influx of foreign investment has helped support economic growth above 5 percent.
