The Ministry of Trade, Ministry of Agriculture, and Bulog (Indonesia's state logistics agency) maintain price stability and sufficient reserves of essential commodities under government control. Currently, garlic reserves stand at 1,000 tons and shallots at 2,000 tons. Meanwhile, stocks of frozen meat reach 86,000 tons, granulated sugar 460,000 tons, and cooking oil 1.5 million tons.
Government inspections of staple food warehouses show that rice stocks in Bulog's regional divisions are generally sufficient to meet public needs until Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr 2017. Similarly, monitored stocks at staple food distributors, including rice, sugar, cooking oil, and wheat flour, are sufficient to meet demand for 4-8 months.
To enhance supervision of staple foods, the Ministry of Trade has monitored 165 traditional markets and 10 major wholesale markets for shallots.
