Number of Cases Decreases: Following is a List of Corruption Crimes Handled by the KPK

Bribery is the type of corruption case most frequently handled by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK). 553 cases, or 78 percent of the 702 corruption cases handled by the KPK from 2015 to 2020, were bribery cases.

According to KPK data, 2018 saw 168 bribery cases, the highest number compared to previous years. This number decreased to 119 in 2019. A drastic decrease occurred in 2020, with only 56 bribery cases.

The number of corruption investigations conducted by the KPK has been steadily declining over the past four years. Last year, only 111 corruption investigations were conducted. As of May 8, 2021, the KPK had conducted 41 corruption investigations.

Recently, allegations of leaks regarding the handling of alleged corruption cases, including during the period of Operation Tangkap Tangan (OTT) when Firli Bahuri was still the KPK's Deputy for Enforcement, have resurfaced. Firli currently serves as the KPK Chairman (2019-2023).

These allegations surfaced after a former KPK investigator, Hasan, stated that he and other employees had previously reported Firli to the leadership because plans for OTT operations and case handling were frequently leaked. Hasan is one of the employees who failed the National Insight Test (TWK) and was dismissed from the KPK.
