The Kurious-Katadata Insight Center (KIC) released a report titled *Public Perception Survey on the Capabilities of Presidential and Vice-Presidential Candidates in Economic Issues* on Tuesday, February 21, 2023.
The survey indicates that the majority of respondents believe the president and elected members of the House of Representatives in the 2024 General Election should address economic growth issues.
Respondents also identified unemployment, inflation, fuel price stability, and digital industry readiness as the most pressing economic issues, with the proportions of respondents shown in the graph.
The Kurious-KIC survey also found that a majority, or 69.6%, of respondents expect presidential and vice-presidential candidates to be relatable to the people.
Many respondents also hoped that the next Indonesian leader would be intelligent/smart (65.7%), have a proven track record (63.8%), be decisive (50.1%), religious (30.7%), and polite (16.8%).
However, a very small percentage of respondents (3.2%) hoped for a leader from a regional figure.
Kurious-KIC conducted this survey among 612 adult respondents. The majority were aged 35-44 years (31.5%), followed by 25-34 years (29.9%), and 45-54 years (23%).
Most respondents were from Java Island excluding Jakarta (59%), followed by Jakarta (18.5%), and Sumatra Island (11.3%). A smaller number were from Sulawesi, Kalimantan, Bali, Nusa Tenggara, Maluku, and Papua.
The survey was conducted from February 3-12, 2023, using the computer-assisted web interviewing (CAWI) method, with a margin of error of approximately 3.96% and a 95% confidence level.
