Which Countries Are Most Sought After by Investors Post-Pandemic? Where Does Indonesia Rank?

The COVID-19 pandemic, which emerged in early 2020, caused significant concern among many investors. Now, as the pandemic begins to subside, investors are starting to look at attractive countries for investment.

According to the Venture Capital and Private Equity Country Attractiveness Index 2021, investors are most interested in investing in the United States post-pandemic. The United States achieved the highest index score of 100.

The United Kingdom is next as the most attractive country for investors, with an index score of 90.3. Japan, Germany, and Canada follow with index scores of 87.4, 87.3, and 87.2, respectively.

Singapore ranks sixth with an index score of 85. China follows in the next position with an index score of 84.7. Australia, South Korea, and France have index scores of 84, 83.8, and 83.6, respectively. Meanwhile, Indonesia ranks 43rd with an index score of 57.8.

This index was designed and elaborated by the IESE Business School's Center for International Finance and the business schools Emlyon and EXapital. The index ranks 125 analyzed countries based on several key drivers: economic activity, depth of capital markets, taxation, investor protection and corporate governance, human and social environment, and entrepreneurial culture and deal opportunities.
