The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) has compiled the five Indonesian business sectors that contributed the most to Indonesia's economy through its Gross Domestic Product (GDP).

The sector contributing the most is the manufacturing industry, reaching Rp3,591.8 trillion or 18.34% of the total 2022 GDP. This figure surged from Rp2,947.5 trillion in 2018.

Second is trade and repair of motor vehicles, amounting to Rp2,516.6 trillion in 2022 or 12.85%. This figure also increased from Rp1,931.8 trillion in 2018.

Third is agriculture, forestry, and fisheries, contributing Rp2,428.9 trillion or 12.4% of the GDP.

Fourth is mining and quarrying with a value of Rp2,393.4 trillion or 12.22%. Fifth is construction with a value of Rp1,912.9 trillion or 9.77%.

BPS stated that the total contribution of these five business sectors to the Indonesian economy was 65.58% in 2022.

The GDP by business sector shows the value created from the production activities of various business sectors in the economy.

BPS explained that in calculating Indonesia's GDP, business sectors are grouped into 17 categories. Of these 17 categories, some are further detailed into subcategories.

"All (total 17) business sectors experienced positive growth from 2021 to 2022," wrote BPS in its report.

Transportation and warehousing, as well as accommodation and food services, consistently have been the fastest-growing business sectors in Indonesia.
