Kompas Research and Development: Majority of Residents Don't Set Aside Special Funds for 2024 Eid al-Fitr

A recent Kompas Research and Development (Litbang Kompas) survey found that 46.2% of Indonesian respondents reported not allocating any specific funds for the 2024 Lebaran celebrations.

Meanwhile, 21.2% of respondents allocated Rp1 million to Rp3 million for Lebaran, followed by 15.4% who budgeted Rp3 million to Rp5 million.

Furthermore, 5.7% of respondents prepared less than Rp1 million for Lebaran, 2.8% allocated Rp7 million to Rp10 million, and 1.4% had a budget exceeding Rp10 million.

In addition, Litbang Kompas also recorded the sources of funds used by respondents for Lebaran shopping this year.

The results showed that 47.3% of respondents stated that their budget for Lebaran 2024 came from their income, whether from employment or entrepreneurship.

Other sources of Lebaran funds included special savings (20.3%), holiday allowances (THR) (17.3%), gifts from family (9.9%), loans (2.6%), and Lebaran-specific group contributions (arisan/iuran) (0.8%).

This Litbang Kompas survey involved 505 randomly selected respondents using a stratified systematic sampling method across 38 Indonesian provinces.

Data collection was conducted from March 18-20, 2024, through telephone interviews. The survey's margin of error is approximately 4.36% with a 95% confidence level, under conditions of simple random sampling.
