The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) released data showing inflation of 0.13 percent in September 2017 compared to the previous month (MoM). As a result, year-to-date inflation (January-September) reached 2.66 percent, while inflation in September 2017 compared to September 2016 (YoY) reached 3.72 percent.
The largest contributor to September's inflation was the expenditure group for processed food, beverages, tobacco, and cigarettes, reaching 0.06 percent. This was followed by the housing, water, electricity, gas, and fuel expenditure group at 0.05 percent, and the clothing expenditure group at 0.03 percent. Meanwhile, the foodstuff expenditure group experienced deflation of 0.11 percent.
Of the 82 cities monitored nationally for price movements, 50 experienced inflation, while the remaining 32 experienced deflation. The highest inflation occurred in Tual, reaching 1.59 percent, while the lowest occurred in Mamuju and Depok, at only 0.01 percent. The largest deflation was in Manado, at 1.04 percent, and the lowest was in Tembilahan, also at 0.01 percent.
