S&P Global reported that the Purchasing Managers Index (PMI) score for Indonesia reached 53.8 points in February 2026. This figure rose from 52.6 points recorded in January 2026.

The index is the result of a survey of managers from hundreds of sample companies in the manufacturing industry. The survey indicators include production volume growth, export and domestic orders, labor numbers, supply delivery times, and the stock of materials purchased by each company.

S&P Global also explained the strengthening of Indonesia's manufacturing sector last month.

"The core of this February recovery is the acceleration of demand expansion for Indonesian goods," said S&P Global in its report.

S&P explained that new orders increased for the seventh consecutive month. Reports from panel members also showed that the number of customers increased and client confidence improved.

"The data indicate that the total expansion of new orders is widespread, as Indonesian manufacturers reported a resurgence in new export orders for the first time in the past six months," said S&P.

Positive movements in sales have also prompted companies to increase labor in the last seven months. The achievement in February marks the most significant pace since last November.

"The increase in staff helped Indonesian manufacturers increase production in February (2026)," said S&P.
