Indonesia's Mining Sector Experienced Negative Growth in 2025, Other Sectors Positive

According to the report from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS), Indonesia's economy in 2025 grew by 5.11% (year-on-year/yoy).

This figure was measured from the value of Indonesia's constant-price gross domestic product (GDP), which increased from Rp12.92 quadrillion in 2024 to Rp13.58 quadrillion in 2025.

However, this growth did not occur in all business sectors.

Out of 17 main business sectors in Indonesia, there is one sector with negative growth or a decrease in GDP, namely mining.

In 2025, the GDP of the mining and quarrying sector fell by 0.66% (yoy).

However, other business sectors recorded positive growth. The strongest performance was in other services and corporate services, with growth rates of around 9% (yoy) each.

9. Processing industry: 5.3% (yoy)
10. Education services: 4.99% (yoy)
11. Financial and insurance services: 3.96% (yoy)
12. Government administration, defense, and mandatory social security: 3.86% (yoy)
13. Construction: 3.81% (yoy)
14. Real estate: 3.58% (yoy)
15. Electricity and gas supply: 3.1% (yoy)
16. Water supply, waste management, and recycling: 0.94% (yoy)
17. Mining and quarrying: -0.66% (yoy)
