Top 5 Provinces for Foreign Investment in Indonesia in 2025

According to data from the Ministry of Investment and Downstreaming/Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM), the realization of foreign direct investment (FDI) in Indonesia reached Rp900.9 trillion in 2025, an increase of 0.1% (year-on-year).

West Java became the largest destination province for foreign investment, with a value of US$9.2 billion or 16.3% of total FDI.

In second place was Central Sulawesi, with realized FDI valued at US$7.4 billion.

According to Investment Minister Rosan Roeslani, the high investment in Central Sulawesi was driven by the downstreaming sector, as well as the province's economic growth rate, which was higher than the national average.

"Most of the investment [in Central Sulawesi] is in Morowali and North Morowali, because these two regions have large natural resources," said Rosan in a press conference on Thursday (15/1/2026).

Next, there is Jakarta with realized FDI valued at US$6 billion, North Maluku with US$5.2 billion, and Banten with US$3.6 billion.

When viewed by sector, the foreign investment inflow in Indonesia in 2025 mostly went into the basic metal industry, metal goods, non-machinery and equipment, accounting for 26% of total FDI.

Following that are the mining sector (8.4%); other services (8%); chemical and pharmaceutical industry (6.8%); and transportation, warehousing, and telecommunications (5.8%).
