Real Expenditure of Indonesian Residents Across 38 Provinces in 2025, Jakarta Highest

According to the Central Statistics Agency (BPS), the adjusted real per capita per year expenditure of Indonesian residents in 2025 was Rp12.80 million.

BPS explained that the adjusted real per capita per year expenditure reflects the average annual consumption of residents based on constant 2012 prices, using South Jakarta as the reference region.

Regionally, there are nine provinces where the adjusted real per capita per year expenditure was above the national average in 2025. These provinces are:

1. Jakarta: Rp20.68 million/year
2. Riau Islands: Rp15.88 million/year
3. DI Yogyakarta: Rp15.86 million/year
4. Bali: Rp15.38 million/year
5. East Kalimantan: Rp14.25 million/year
6. Bangka Belitung Islands: Rp13.84 million/year
7. South Kalimantan: Rp13.76 million/year
8. East Java: Rp13.51 million/year
9. Banten: Rp13.50 million/year.

Meanwhile, there are eight provinces where the adjusted real per capita per year expenditure was less than Rp10 million in 2025.

These provinces are all located in the eastern region of Indonesia. Here is the list:

1. South Papua: Rp9.98 million/year
2. Maluku:Rp9.90 million/year
3. North Maluku: Rp9.61 million/year
4. West Papua: Rp9.12 million/year
5. Southwest Papua: Rp9.08 million/year
6. East Nusa Tenggara: Rp8.74 million/year
7. Central Papua: Rp8.04 million/year
8. Highland Papua: Rp5.86 million/year.

For information, this real expenditure is one of the indicators used to assess the Human Development Index (HDI), which is an index that measures the development of the quality of life of the population.
