10 Sectors with the Most Corruption Cases in Indonesia in 2024

According to monitoring by Indonesia Corruption Watch (ICW), there were 364 corruption cases handled by law enforcement officials in Indonesia in 2024.

The number of suspects reached 888 people, with potential state losses amounting to Rp279 trillion.

In 2024, the highest number of corruption cases occurred in villages, totaling 77 cases, with potential state losses of Rp80.9 billion.

ICW explained that the KPK already has several programs to prevent corruption in villages, such as anti-corruption village programs, collaboration with the Ministry of Villages and Development of Disadvantaged Regions, and training for village youth activists.

"However, the high trend of corruption enforcement in the village sector indicates that these various programs have not been effective in preventing corruption in the village sector," ICW wrote in its 2024 Corruption Trend Monitoring Report.

Besides in villages, corruption cases also frequently occurred in sectors related to providing basic public needs, such as utilities, education, and health.

4. Health: 39 cases

5. Banking: 25 cases

6. Education: 25 cases

7. Natural resources: 19 cases

8. Social affairs: 18 cases

9. Youth and sports: 12 cases

10. Transportation: 11 cases
