Indonesia's Food Security Budget to be 50% Utilized by Early September 2025

According to the Indonesian Ministry of Finance's report, from the beginning of the year until September 8, 2025, the realization of the food security budget expenditure reached Rp73.6 trillion.

This achievement is equivalent to 50.9% of the total ceiling in the 2025 Indonesia's State Budget (APBN) which reached Rp144.6 trillion.

"This is used to build food barns, extensification for infrastructure, pre-harvest agricultural machinery assistance, irrigation networks, dams, and water resource infrastructure," said Deputy Minister of Finance Suahasil Nazara in the APBN Kita press conference on Monday (September 22, 2025).

He explained that this food security expenditure was channeled through central government spending (BPP) of Rp39.1 trillion, financing of Rp22.1 trillion, and transfers to regions (TKD) of Rp12.4 trillion.

Here is a breakdown of the realization of food security budget spending until September 8, 2025:

* Irrigation networks with a realization of 34.7% of the target of 216,000 hectares: Rp3.3 trillion

* Water resources infrastructure with a realization of 27.2% of the target: Rp2.5 trillion

* Pre-harvest agricultural machinery (alsintan) assistance of 37,600 units: Rp2.4 trillion

* Dams with a realization of 64.4% of the target of 15 units: Rp2.1 trillion

* Land extensification or rice field development and land intensification covering 160,500 hectares: Rp1.7 trillion

In addition, the food security budget was also channeled to Bulog amounting to Rp22.1 trillion, consisting of Rp16.6 trillion for the purchase of rice and paddy, and Rp5.5 trillion for the purchase of corn.
