Top 5 Investment Recipient Business Sectors in Indonesia, First Semester 2025

According to a report from the Ministry of Investment/Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM), investment realization in Indonesia in the first half of 2025 reached IDR 942.9 trillion, a 13.6% increase compared to the first half of last year (year-on-year/yoy).

Of this value, 45.9% was foreign direct investment (PMA) and 54.1% was domestic direct investment (PMDN).

In the first half of 2025, the largest capital inflows were to the basic metals, metal goods, and non-machinery and equipment industry, with a value of IDR 134.4 trillion, equivalent to 14.3% of total national investment.

Next was the transportation, warehousing, and telecommunications sector, with IDR 110.7 trillion in investment.

Investment in the mining sector was IDR 102.2 trillion; other services IDR 85.7 trillion; and housing, industrial estates, and offices IDR 75 trillion.

The Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM) also recorded that the largest foreign capital inflows in the first half of 2025 came from Singapore, at US$8.8 billion.

Other countries of origin for foreign investors were Hong Kong, with US$4.6 billion, China with US$3.6 billion, Malaysia with US$1.7 billion, and Japan with US$1.6 billion.
