According to a Snapcart survey of approximately 3,600 respondents in Indonesia, 43% frequently use artificial intelligence (AI) in their daily lives. 41% use AI infrequently, and only 16% have never used it.

Among AI users, the majority (43%) use the technology to assist with school or university assignments. 26% use AI for information searching or data research, and 14% use it to solve complex tasks. Others use AI for entertainment (9%), as a confidant (6%), and for other purposes (2%).

"This usage demonstrates a growing trend where AI is viewed not only as a smart assistant but also as a digital confidant," wrote Snapcart in its report, *In AI, We Trust: Part 1* (April 2025).

The survey also found that 58% of AI users sometimes consider AI a substitute for a psychologist. The remaining 42% only chat with AI for emotional support, not considering it a replacement for professional mental health services.

"For them, AI functions more as a relaxing companion, similar to venting feelings through journaling or talking to a pet," wrote Snapcart.

Snapcart conducted this online survey in April 2025, targeting 3,611 respondents across various regions of Indonesia.
