Forbes released its list of *The Richest Crypto and Bitcoin Billionaires in the World 2024*, or a list of the wealthiest individuals whose fortunes originate from cryptocurrencies and Bitcoin.
Seventeen individuals made the list, with an estimated total net worth of US$93 billion. This figure is derived from estimations of cryptocurrency holdings, publicly disclosed stock ownership, and their personal assets.
Topping the list is Changpeng Zhao, founder of the cryptocurrency company Binance, with a net worth of US$33 billion.
In November 2023, Zhao faced money laundering charges in the United States. He paid a personal fine of US$200 million, and his company, Binance, paid an additional fine of US$4.5 billion.
As a result of the scandal, Zhao stepped down as CEO of Binance and was banned from company activities for three years. However, he still controls 90% of Binance's shares.
Brian Armstrong, owner of Coinbase, with a net worth of US$11.2 billion, came in second.
Brian Armstrong's name gained traction in Indonesia due to rumors of his marriage to local actress Raline Shah. However, both parties denied the rumors.
Giancarlo Devasini, with a net worth of US$9.2 billion, secured third place. He is the CFO and largest individual shareholder of Tether, the issuer of the world's largest stablecoin in the crypto world.
