These Are the 10 Richest Countries in the World in 2021 According to Global Finance Magazine

Global Finance magazine released a list of the world's richest countries in 2021. Luxembourg was named the richest country in the world in 2021, based on its Gross Domestic Product (GDP) per capita at Purchasing Power Parity (PPP) of US$118,001, equivalent to Rp 1.69 billion (at an exchange rate of Rp 14,320). Interestingly, Luxembourg is one of the countries least affected by the Covid-19 pandemic.

Singapore ranked second with a GDP-PPP per capita of US$97,057. Ireland ranked third with a GDP-PPP per capita of US$94,392. Qatar followed in fourth place with a GDP-PPP per capita of US$93,508. Last year, Qatar ranked first as the world's richest country; this decline is attributed to the Covid-19 pandemic and changes in oil prices.

Switzerland was the fifth richest country with a GDP-PPP per capita of US$72,874. Norway followed with a GDP-PPP per capita of US$65,800.

The next richest countries were the United States and Brunei Darussalam, with GDP-PPP per capita of US$63,416 and US$62,371 respectively. Hong Kong and Denmark followed with GDP-PPP per capita of US$59,520 and US$58,932 respectively.

Global Finance surveyed 194 countries worldwide using several indicators, including per capita income, purchasing power parity, and Gross Domestic Product (GDP).
