According to an Ipsos survey, on average 73% of respondents across all surveyed countries feel that the price of utilities such as electricity and gas will increase again next year.

More than half of the respondents in all surveyed countries also believe that the prices of food, household expenses, and vehicle fuel will become more expensive, with the percentage breakdown shown in the graph.

Furthermore, 69% believe that inflation in 2023 will be higher than it is currently, 63% predict that bank interest rates will continue to rise, 61% feel that unemployment will increase, and 55% believe that their tax burden will increase next year.

"Inflation is perceived as a global problem. The majority of respondents believe this problem is mainly caused by the global economic situation (74%) and the Russian invasion of Ukraine (70%)," Ipsos said in its press release on Tuesday (29/11/2022).

"Many respondents also feel that inflation is influenced by interest rates (68%) and local government policies (68%)," it continued.

The Ipsos survey also found that about 1 in 3 respondents (32%) feel that their standard of living will decline in 2023. This pessimism is most prevalent among respondents from Turkey, Hungary, Poland, Belgium, and the UK.

This survey involved 24,471 respondents from 36 countries in the Americas, Europe, Africa, and Asia, including Indonesia. Respondents were aged between 18-74 years old at the time of the survey, which was conducted between October 21 and November 4, 2022.
