Merauke, City with the Highest National Inflation Rate in July 2023

The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) reports that Indonesia's inflation reached 3.08% in July 2023 (year-on-year/yoy). The Consumer Price Index (CPI) was 115.24.

In its report, *Development of the Consumer Price Index July 2023*, BPS states that national inflation occurred due to price increases in most expenditure groups.

Of the 90 Indonesian cities surveyed by BPS, Merauke, Papua, experienced the highest inflation in Indonesia in July 2023, reaching 5.21%.

Also in Papua, Manokwari and Timika followed with inflation rates of 4.98% and 4.93%, respectively.

Luwuk followed in fourth place with an inflation rate of 4.77%, followed by Waingapu in fifth place with inflation of 4.56%.

Based on this data, the top 10 cities with the highest inflation rates in Indonesia are dominated by cities outside Java Island. Details are as follows:

1. Merauke (Papua): 5.21%
2. Manokwari (West Papua): 4.98%
3. Timika (Papua): 4.93%
4. Luwuk (Central Sulawesi): 4.77%
5. Waingapu (East Nusa Tenggara): 4.56%
6. Surabaya (East Java): 4.46%
7. Pontianak (West Kalimantan): 4.32%
8. Ambon (Maluku): 4.29%
9. Cirebon (West Java): 4.13%
10. Kotabaru (South Kalimantan): 4.1%
