The Indonesian contingent added 3 medals at the 2022 Hangzhou Asian Games in China on Thursday (5/10/2023). This achievement consists of two silver and one bronze medal.
However, the additional medals were not enough to boost Indonesia's position in the provisional Asian Games 2022 standings.
Until Friday (6/10/2023) at 07.20 WIB, Indonesia dropped to 13th place with a collection of 33 medals. The details are 6 gold medals, 10 silver medals, and 17 bronze medals.
Citing the Twitter account of the Ministry of Youth and Sports (Kemenpora), the additional medals were contributed by the dragon boat and karate sports.
Two silver medals were won by Reski Wahyuni and her team from the dragon boat sport in the women's dragon boat 500m event. From the same sport, a silver medal was contributed by Dedi Saputra and his team in the men's dragon boat 500m event.
In addition, a bronze medal was won by karate athlete Ignatius Joshua Kandou who was successful in the men's kumite -75kg after defeating Yusei Sakiyama from Japan with a score of 4-0.
Indonesia's position is threatened by Malaysia, which is chasing in 14th place with a total of 28 medals. The details consist of 5 gold, 6 silver, and 17 bronze medals.
Meanwhile, the host country, China, is still firmly at the top of the standings with a total of 333 medals, consisting of 176 gold, 99 silver, and 55 bronze medals.
Then Japan follows below with 158 medals, namely 44 gold, 54 silver, and 60 bronze medals. Third place is occupied by South Korea with 157 medals consisting of 33 gold, 47 silver, and 77 bronze medals.
