Throughout 2023, Indonesia received approximately US$50.27 billion in foreign direct investment (FDI) realization.
This figure is recorded on the website of the National Single Window for Investment belonging to the Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM).
The data on the BKPM website does not yet reflect all investment activities within the country.
This is because the data does not yet include capital market investments, household investments, and investments whose permits are issued by technical institutions, such as investments in the oil and gas, banking, non-bank financial institutions, insurance, and leasing sectors.
Although incomplete, the value of foreign investment recorded by the BKPM in 2023 was very large, breaking a new record high, as shown in the graph.
In 2023, the majority of foreign investment flowed into the Basic Metal Industry, Metal Goods, Non-Machinery, and Equipment.
