In late March 2023, the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) was investigating an alleged corruption case at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM).
The KPK suspects that several individuals within the ministry embezzled employee performance allowances (tukin), causing state losses of tens of billions of rupiah.
"We are still investigating all the information and facts, tracing where the alleged funds from the embezzlement of employee tukin at the ESDM Ministry went," said KPK Spokesperson Ali Fikri, as reported by Katadata on Tuesday (March 28, 2023).
The KPK has identified several suspects. However, they have not yet revealed their names because the evidence gathered by the investigation team is not yet complete.
"To keep this investigation on track, we hope the public will continue to monitor it," Ali said.
According to the State Officials' Wealth Report (LHKPN) data, ESDM Ministry officials have assets ranging from Rp5 billion to Rp50 billion.
The reported wealth is generally considered "reasonable" compared to officials of the same level from other ministries.
