Residents of Pesisir Barat Regency spend Rp18,600 per capita per week on rice.

In West Coast Regency in 2023, per capita weekly expenditure on rice (local, superior quality, imported) amounted to Rp18,600. This figure is higher than the previous year's expenditure of Rp17,130 per capita per week.

Per capita expenditure refers to the total cost of consumption for all household members over a month, divided by the number of household members. This expenditure can be categorized into two parts: food and non-food.

Expenditure on food consumption is calculated weekly, while non-food expenditure is calculated monthly and for the past 12 months. Both food and non-food consumption are then converted into average monthly expenditure. The average per capita consumption/expenditure figures presented in BPS publications are obtained by dividing the total consumption of all households (both consuming food and not) by the total population.

The five largest components of household expenditure on cereals in West Coast Regency, ranked from highest to lowest, are: superior quality rice at Rp18,600 per capita per week; wheat flour at Rp342.85 per capita per week; fresh corn with husks at Rp113.45 per capita per week; glutinous rice at Rp30.82 per capita per week; and other cereals at Rp5.8 per capita per week.

According to Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS) data, the average per capita expenditure in this regency reached Rp1.27 million per capita per month in March 2023. This figure increased by 32.11% compared to March 2022, which was Rp964,280 per capita per month.

Based on region, the highest per capita expenditure on rice (local, superior quality, imported) was in East Manggarai Regency, and the lowest was in Puncak Regency. West Coast Regency ranked 263rd in terms of per capita expenditure on rice (local, superior quality, imported). Meanwhile, the national average per capita expenditure on rice (local, superior quality, imported) was Rp257.5 per capita per week.
