Residents of Bengkulu Tengah Regency spend Rp20,620 per capita per week on rice.

The average expenditure of people in Central Bengkulu Regency for purchasing rice (local rice, superior quality, imported) in 2023 was Rp20,620 per capita per week. This figure surged compared to the previous year's expenditure, which was recorded at Rp18,770 per capita per week.

Per capita expenditure is the cost incurred for the consumption of all household members for a month divided by the number of household members. This expenditure can be grouped into two parts: food and non-food needs.

Expenditure for food consumption is calculated weekly, while non-food expenditure is calculated monthly and for the past 12 months. Both food and non-food consumption are then converted into average monthly expenditure. The average per capita consumption/expenditure figures presented in BPS publications are obtained by dividing the total consumption of all households (both consuming food and not) by the total population.

According to BPS, this increase in expenditure was driven by the monthly inflation rate (month to month) in this region, which reached 3.82%. Meanwhile, economic growth in 2023 was recorded at 3.82%.

The five largest expenditures of the population for the cereal group in Central Bengkulu Regency, from the highest order spent, are: superior quality rice at Rp20,620 per capita per week, wheat flour at Rp412.67 per capita per week, fresh corn with husks at Rp169.46 per capita per week, glutinous rice at Rp31.49 per capita per week, and the lowest spent on other cereals at Rp7.65 per capita per week.

Based on region, the highest household expenditure for purchasing rice (local rice, superior quality, imported) was in East Manggarai Regency and the lowest in Puncak Regency. For Central Bengkulu Regency, the nominal expenditure for purchasing rice (local rice, superior quality, imported) is ranked 165th. Meanwhile, the national average per capita expenditure for purchasing rice (local rice, superior quality, imported) is Rp257.5 per capita per week.
