The increase in prices across all expenditure groups triggered inflation of 0.2 percent in November 2017 from the previous month (MoM). Meanwhile, calendar year inflation for the January-November 2017 period was 2.87 percent, and year-on-year inflation (November 2017 compared to November of the previous year) was 3.3 percent.
The food expenditure group recorded the highest inflation, at 0.37 percent, contributing 0.09 percent to the November 2017 inflation. This was followed by inflation in the health expenditure group at 0.27 percent; the processed food, beverages, tobacco group at 0.22 percent; and the housing, water, electricity, gas, and fuel group at 0.13 percent. Then came the clothing expenditure group at 0.12 percent; the education, recreation, and sports group at 0.1 percent; and the transport, communication, and financial services group at 0.09 percent.
Of the 82 cities surveyed, 68 experienced inflation while 14 recorded deflation. Singaraja recorded the highest inflation at 1.8 percent, while Bekasi and Palopo recorded the lowest inflation at 0.02 percent. Tual recorded the largest deflation at 2.74 percent, while Manokwari recorded the lowest deflation at 0.02 percent.
