Residents of the Mentawai Islands Regency spend Rp26.31 per capita per week on Manila duck eggs.

Household expenditure on duck eggs/Manila duck eggs in Mentawai Islands Regency in 2023 amounted to Rp26.31 per capita per week. This figure is higher than the previous year's expenditure, which was recorded at Rp10.25 per capita per week.

Per capita expenditure is the cost incurred for the consumption of all household members over a month, divided by the number of household members. This expenditure can be categorized into two parts: food and non-food needs.

Expenditure on food consumption is calculated weekly, while non-food expenditure is calculated monthly and for the past 12 months. Both food and non-food consumption are then converted into average monthly expenditure. The average per capita consumption/expenditure figures presented in BPS publications are obtained by dividing the total consumption of all households (both consuming food and not) by the total population.

According to BPS (Central Bureau of Statistics), this increase in expenditure was driven by the monthly (month-to-month) inflation rate in this region, which reached 4.04%. Meanwhile, economic growth in 2023 was recorded at 4.04%.

The five largest household expenditure items for eggs and milk in Mentawai Islands Regency, in descending order, are: layer chicken eggs at Rp3,994.13 per capita per week; sweetened condensed milk at Rp1,409.6 per capita per week; powdered milk at Rp1,004.83 per capita per week; infant formula at Rp996.37 per capita per week; and the lowest expenditure was on duck eggs/Manila duck eggs at Rp26.31 per capita per week.

According to a publication by the Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS), the average per capita expenditure in this regency reached Rp1.31 million per capita per month in March 2023. This figure increased by 36.47% compared to March 2022, which was Rp960,830 per capita per month.

Based on region, the highest household expenditure on duck eggs/Manila duck eggs was in Hulu Sungai Selatan Regency, and the lowest was in Depok City.
