According to the Directorate General of Taxes' Wealth Statement (SPH) statistics, the total declared assets of Indonesian citizens participating in the tax amnesty program reached Rp 1,769.8 trillion. Compared to August's report, this figure is more than 100 times higher. The highest amount declared was domestic net assets, reaching Rp 1,197.7 trillion.
This increase in asset declarations is due to the rising participation rate as the deadline for the first phase of the tax amnesty program approaches in September. Furthermore, as widely reported in the media, many prominent businessmen have also declared their assets.
Some well-known businessmen participating in the tax amnesty program include James Riady, owner of the Lippo Group; brothers Garibaldi Thohir, President Director of Adaro Energy, and Erick Thohir, head of the Mahaka Group; Hutomo Mandala Putra, owner of the Humpuss Group and son of former President Soeharto; and Theodore Permadi Rachmat, former head of the Astra Group and owner of the Triputra Group.
