Based on the report *Digital Threats in Indonesia Semester I 2023* released by AwanPintar.id, Indonesia ranks 11th globally as the largest contributor to cyberattacks. These attacks are measured using the internet protocol address (IP address) used to launch the attacks.
"AwanPintar.id notes that Indonesia is ranked 11th among attacking countries. This means Indonesian IP addresses are actively used to launch attacks against other servers within Indonesia," wrote AwanPintar.id in its report.
The report also reveals the five regions in Indonesia that contribute the most to cyberattacks.
These five areas are located in the Jabodetabek region. AwanPintar.id states that these five areas are considered to have the best national digital infrastructure and ecosystem in the Digital Society Index from the Ministry of Communication and Informatics (Kominfo) in 2022.
DKI Jakarta is recorded as the region with the most cyberattack sources, with 11.2 million attacks during the first half of 2023.
Depok is second, with a total of 2.4 million attacks. Tangerang and Bogor follow, with 1.2 million and 991,000 attacks respectively.
For fifth place, AwanPintar.id specifically notes the Jatikramat sub-district in Bekasi as a source of cyberattacks, with 843,000 attacks.
"These five areas, based on data aggregated by AwanPintar.id during the first six months of 2023, are the areas that most frequently launch domestic attacks, although some of these attacks may be triggered from outside the country," explains AwanPintar.id.
AwanPintar.id collects this data using sensors deployed throughout Indonesia. These sensors not only identify the origin of the attacks but also the type of attacks launched.
Some of the cyberattacks frequently recorded in Indonesia include *miss activity, detection of a network scan*, and *generic protocol command decode*.
