Deli Serdang Regency's 2023 Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP) at current prices reached Rp139.1 trillion. This represents a 5.34% growth compared to the previous year's Rp127.55 trillion.
Compared to the COVID-19 pandemic year of 2020, the region's economic growth is significantly higher. At the end of 2020, post-COVID, growth was recorded at a decrease of 1.78%.
According to BPS (Statistics Indonesia) publications, with a total population of 2.02 million, the GRDP per capita in this region is recorded at Rp68,920,000 per capita per year. Nationally, this ranks 127th.
Of the 17 sectors driving the region's economy, the manufacturing industry is the leading sector.
The manufacturing sector holds the top position. In 2023, this sector contributed the largest share to the GRDP, reaching Rp40.38 trillion, a 2% increase.
Following this is the wholesale and retail trade, repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles sector, which grew by 4.8% to Rp24.48 trillion. Next is the construction sector with a GRDP of Rp22.38 trillion (5.92% growth).
Rounding out the top five is the agriculture, forestry, and fisheries sector with a GRDP of Rp14.98 trillion. This sector recorded a 2.29% growth compared to the previous year's Rp13.62 trillion.
