Price of Grade II Low-Quality Rice in Modern Markets for March 2025-2026

According to the latest information from the National Strategic Food Price Information Center (PIHPS) panel, the daily price of Grade II low-quality rice in modern markets of North Sumatra province is recorded at Rp13,550 per kg. This price has remained unchanged compared to the previous day and also over the past week.

Meanwhile, compared to the price in the last month, the daily price of Grade II low-quality rice in modern markets has decreased from the previously recorded Rp13,600 per kg.

In the last three months, the daily price of Grade II low-quality rice in modern markets in North Sumatra has increased by 1.5% from the previously recorded Rp13,350 per kg.

The record increase in the daily price of Grade II low-quality rice in modern markets in this province was previously recorded in May 2017 with a 10% increase, and the lowest decrease was recorded in September 2024 with a -10.82% decrease.

According to PIHPS monitoring, today's prices of nine staple foods (sembako) in North Sumatra show that seven commodities have decreased and 14 others have increased. The sembako with decreasing prices are Green Bird's Eye Chili, Curly Red Chili, Red Bird's Eye Chili, Branded Packaged Cooking Oil 2, Fresh Broiler Chicken Meat, Grade II Low-Quality Rice, and Large Red Chili.

Below are the prices of nine staple foods monitored by PIHPS today compared to their price developments in the last month in North Sumatra province:

5. Branded Packaged Cooking Oil 1 per Kg Rp21,250 per kg (unchanged)
6. Curly Red Chili per Kg Rp39,750 per kg (down 14.05%)
7. Red Bird's Eye Chili per Kg Rp41,000 per kg (down 26.79%)
8. Grade I Medium-Quality Rice per Kg Rp14,000 per kg (up 0.36%)
9. Medium-Sized Garlic per Kg Rp40,000 per kg (up 6.67%)
10. Medium-Sized Shallots per Kg Rp30,900 per kg (up 22.38%)
11. Branded Packaged Cooking Oil 2 per Kg Rp20,450 per kg (down 0.73%)
12. Premium Granulated Sugar per Kg Rp18,700 per kg (up 6.55%)
13. Grade I Low-Quality Rice per Kg Rp13,200 per kg (up 0.38%)
