Top 10 Richest Families in Asia 2022: Hartono Family Ranked Second

Having a wealthy family is a privilege enjoyed by only a few. Even more so if one is born into one of the wealthiest families, with businesses passed down through generations.

According to Bloomberg, the Ambani family of India topped the list of Asia's wealthiest families in 2022. Their wealth reached US$90.3 billion, or approximately Rp1,295 trillion (using an exchange rate of Rp14,341/US$).

This is unsurprising, as Mukesh Ambani is currently the richest person in Asia. The Ambani family's wealth stems from Reliance Industries, a company operating in the oil and gas sector.

Coming in second, with a net worth of US$36.3 billion, is the Hartono family of Indonesia. Initially, Michael and Budi Hartono inherited the renowned Indonesian cigarette company, Djarum, from their father. They also invested in Bank Central Asia (BCA).

In third place is the Mistry family of India, with a net worth of US$34 billion.
