Garlic Prices in North Maluku Rise 12.3% in a Week

Garlic prices in North Maluku reached Rp 47,950 per kg on Tuesday, March 1, 2022. Compared to other regions, this area saw the highest price increase in the past week.

According to daily monitoring of staple food commodity prices from the National Strategic Food Price Information Center, garlic prices in North Maluku rose by 12.3% within a week.

Compared to prices 30 days prior, garlic prices in this region increased by 14.99%. This signifies a significant surge within a month. In fact, compared to the last year's prices, the current selling price of garlic in North Maluku's modern markets is the highest on record.

For the January-March 2022 period, garlic prices in modern markets continued to rise, increasing by 14.99% compared to the previous month.

Garlic prices reached their lowest point at Rp 41,700 per kg on Monday, January 3, 2022. The highest price ever reached was around Rp 47,950 per kg.

Nationally, garlic prices started to rise towards the end of 2021. The average price of garlic in modern markets was Rp 37,570 per kg, a 2.16% increase compared to the previous weekend.
