Half of 2016 Foreign Investment Flowed into Java

Half of all foreign direct investment (FDI) in 2016 flowed into Java. Based on data from the Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM), foreign investment in Java from January to December 2016 reached US$14.77 billion, or approximately Rp 202.3 trillion. This figure represents 51 percent of total FDI in Indonesia, valued at Rp 396.6 trillion.

Meanwhile, the second largest recipient of foreign investment in Indonesia was Sumatra, with US$5.6653 billion, or approximately 19.5 percent of total FDI. Sulawesi was the third largest recipient of foreign investment, with US$2.765 billion, or approximately 9.6 percent of the total.

Total investment realization in Indonesia throughout 2016 reached Rp 612.8 trillion. This comprises Rp 396.6 trillion in FDI and Rp 216.2 trillion in domestic investment (PMDN).
