The Statistics Indonesia (BPS) Budget Increased by 46.5% in 2022

In the 2022 State Budget (Anggaran Pendapatan dan Belanja Negara or APBN), the government allocated Rp 5.69 trillion (approximately US$386 million based on 2022 average exchange rate) to the Central Bureau of Statistics (Badan Pusat Statistik or BPS). This figure represents a 46.5% increase from the 2021 outlook of Rp 3.89 trillion (approximately US$265 million based on 2021 average exchange rate).

This is also the largest allocation to the BPS in the last decade. In terms of funding sources, 99.54% of the BPS budget comes from the state treasury (rupiah murni), and 0.46% from Non-Tax State Revenue (Pendapatan Negara Bukan Pajak or PNBP).

53.76% of this year's BPS budget is allocated to management support programs, and 46.24% to statistical information provision and service programs (Penyediaan dan Pelayanan Informasi Statistik or PPIS).

According to usage, 40.52% of the 2020 BPS budget was for personnel expenditure, 56.9% for goods and services, and 2.58% for capital expenditure.

BPS is a government agency responsible for carrying out government duties in the field of statistics, in accordance with Law No. 16/1997. In addition to providing data for the government, BPS also provides data for the public. This data is obtained from censuses or surveys conducted by BPS itself, as well as from other ministries or agencies.
