Indonesia's Food, Beverage, and Tobacco Prices Fall 0.69% in June

In June, the prices of components contributing to food inflation in Indonesia were -0.69%. This figure is lower than the previous month's -0.45%. Among the 11 inflation groups measured in this region, the food, beverage, and tobacco group contributed -0.49% to regional inflation.

The Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS) reported that the consumer price index (CPI) for food, beverages, and tobacco in Indonesia was at 110.06 in June 2024, lower than the previous month's 110.82.

Compared to the same month last year, food, beverage, and tobacco inflation has fallen by 8.36% (year-on-year/YoY). Compared to the beginning of the year, the prices of components contributing to inflation in Indonesia have grown by 1.58% (year-to-date/YTD).

Compared to the other 11 groups, this inflation group ranked 11th.

The following are the sub-group inflation rates for food, beverages, and tobacco measured by BPS in Indonesia for June:

• Non-alcoholic Beverages Group 0.14%
• Alcoholic Beverages Group 0.1%

Compared to 150 other regencies/cities, the highest food, beverage, and tobacco inflation occurred in Denpasar City, down 1.67% with a CPI of 110.32, and the lowest occurred in Bandar Lampung City, down 0.59% with a CPI of 108.55. Indonesia ranked 71st.

As announced by BPS earlier this month, inflation in June 2024 reached 0.12% monthly and -23.07% annually. Although lower than the previous month's inflation, this monthly inflation rate is not as high as the same period last year, which was recorded at 3.28%.
