Assets Declaration of the Acting Chairman of the KPU, Mochammad Afifuddin

The General Election Commission (KPU) has appointed Mochammad Afifuddin as the acting chairman. He replaces Hasyim Asy'ari, who was dismissed due to alleged sexual misconduct involving sexual exploitation.

KPU Commissioner August Mellaz stated that Afifuddin will serve until a permanent chairman is elected.

"The plenary session has unanimously decided to mandate Mr. Mochammad Afifuddin to lead the organization," August said after the plenary session, as reported by *Katadata* on Thursday (4/7/2024).

Previously, Afifuddin served as a KPU member (2022-2027), heading the Legal and Supervisory Division and serving as Deputy Chairman of the Data and Information Division.

Afifuddin stated that his focus during his tenure will be on preparing for the 2024 regional elections (Pilkada). "It won't be easy, but we will face it together," he said.

In addition to his appointment as acting chairman, Afifuddin's assets were valued at Rp5.89 billion in 2023, based on his State Officials' Wealth Report (LHKPN) submitted on March 26, 2024.

Most of Afifuddin's assets consist of land and buildings, valued at Rp5.53 billion. He owns four plots of land and buildings acquired through his own efforts, located in South Tangerang and Kuningan.

He also reported cash and cash equivalents of Rp494.17 million, transportation assets worth Rp272.2 million, and other movable assets worth Rp68 million.

Afifuddin's reported transportation assets include a 2019 Honda HR-V Prestige, a 2014 Honda motorcycle, and a 2023 Vespa Sprint S.

As of the end of 2023, the acting KPU chairman had debts totaling Rp466 million.
